Especially useful is the 'SAR DOGS' E-Mail Subscription List under this
heading. subscribing to this list will permit you to ask questions and
read the comments of many SAR people actively using canine resources.

The following books are also recommemded reading:

- "Search Dog Training" by Sandy Bryson
Covers many areas including Basic Training, Standards and Testing,Area,
Disaster and Evidence searching.

- "Scent and the Scenting Dog" by William G. Syrotuck

Covers scent theory extensively.

- "Tracking Dog, theory and methods"

A good source if you intend to train a dog in tracking as opposed to
airscenting or trailing.

- Don't forget "Ready: The training of Search and Rescue Dogs" by
Susan Bulanda. It has some off mainstream ideas but should be read.


The best place to find these materials is the National Assoc. of Search
and Rescue (NASAR) library.
Write or call them for a catalog.

an excellent online Canine Standards guide at:
