Subject : Lost boy found in Nova Scotia woods Posted: 5 Jul 1994 12:08:36 -0300 Org. : St. Mary?s University A huge search effort here in Nova Scotia ended successfully yesterday, when a lost 15-year-old boy was found alive and well after spending 3 days in the woods. He was spotted by a helicopter about 7 kilometers from the place where he became turned around while looking for a path to a lake. Altogether, the search involved about 200 trained search and rescue volunteers, 25 firemen, 10 ATVs, 3 helicopters, one CASAR (civilian air patrol) plane, 25 support people, a dozen or so Mounties, and God only knows how many spontaneous "volunteers" and rubber-neckers. It was a very happy moment when it was over. There's no feeling like seeing a lost kid reunited with his family. Ken Hill Search Director Waverley SAR khill@husky1.stmarys.ca
