Missing was a 48 year-old-male who went fishing along the Salmon River east of Halifax. The river runs north to south parallel to Ross Rd. emptying into the Cole Harbour dike after crossing #207 highway. Under the direction of R.C.M.P. I/C Archie Mason and HRSAR's Search Director Tony Rodgers hasty teams responded immediately from the PLS at 5:00 a.m. and began taskings to run the east and west sides of the river. Team One entered the woods just behind the Ross Rd. School with the intention of running the west side of the river south down to the #207. As the command and logistics buses were getting in place, Team One, from the rivers west bank made voice contact with the lost subject at 5:15 a.m.. He was located on the opposite bank just behind the school. An R.C.M.P. dog team running the eastern side of the river was notified of his location and was able to respond to the spot within 10 min.. The subject was able to walk under his own steam and was escorted by the R.C.M.P. dog team south to the #207 Highway. The gentleman indicated he was fishing the east bank and became disoriented due to the increased water level. He built a fire and stayed put for the night until he heard searchers calling his name. He was found dry, warm and uninjured. Thanks goes out to Halifax Regional Search and Rescue and Cole Harbour R.C.M.P. .
