Jeremy Swanson, a 12 year old boy from Clarinda, Iowa dissappeared Monday afternoon while riding a mountain bike from the summit of Pikes Peak to the Barr Trailhead at Manitou Springs, CO. He was rescued about 23:15 that same evening by El Paso County Search and Rescue team members. Swanson was riding with his brother, cousin and an uncle after renting bikes for the 14 miles trip from the summit. He became separated from the others when he chose to ride ahead of the group along the Fred Barr Trail. The rest of the group apparently passed Jeremy without realizing it when he rested on a trailside rock. The group reported the boy missing when they arrived at the bottom of the trail and Jeremy could not be found. El Paso County Search and Rescue was paged at 20:57 and sent two hasty teams up the trail from Manitou. One team checked several side trails while the other continued up the trail. The boy was found at "No Name" creek (aka incorrectly as French Creek) on the Barr trail about 4 miles from the lower trailhead. Jeremy was found in good condition and walked the rest of the way with his rescuers. Family members and TV cameras welcomed him as he arrived in Manitou about midnight. ------------------------------------------
