*** Scuba Diver found Deceased by Land SAR & Hovercraft *** 11th December 1997 Lions Bay Search & Rescue received an urgent page at 2300hrs calling for assistance to a person trapped on the cliff-bound shoreline of Kelvin Grove, on Howe Sound in British Columbia, Canada. A group of SAR team members rushed to Kelvin Grove with the cliff-rescue kit, while the Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft was also depatched to the scene, to provide lighting and rapid transportation support. The subject had been night scuba diving with two friends and had, apparently, returned to shore when his air supply began to run low. The subject, a 50 year-old male, was found on the rocky shoreline, deceased, by his diving partners. One immediately attempted CPR while the other went to the village of Lions Bay to call for help. When the SAR team and hovercraft reached the subject he was confirmed to be deceased and was transported back to Vancouver in the hovercraft. The subject was reported to be on medication for a heart condition, but at this time the cause of death has not been released. Martin Colwell Lions Bay Search & Rescue ------------------------------
