Missing: one male adult, three male juvenile Weather: Cold 40's,by 2200hrs had dropped to 20's, wind north at 20 G40. At approximately 1730hrs Panhandle Search and Rescue was requested to respond to the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area near Fritch, Texas. National Park Rangers had recieved a report of overdue duck hunters. The Rangers had found a capsized boat about 20 meters from the south shore. PANSAR responded with 9 dog/handler teams and 9 other search and command personel. PANSAR teams were first to search the area. K-9 teams searched the shorelines. Due to thick underbrush and swamp condtions night search POD's where low. Some areas had 6"to 1ft deep water out approximately 30 meters. PANSAR searched for about 3 hours. A Texas Department of Public Safety Helicopter assited for about an hour before suspending operations until morning. Search teams recovered one body in the water wearing a Personal Flotation Device. Boat teams and a Helo reported debris from the boat on the water and in the brush near the shore. Search operation were suspended at 1115 hrs untill first light.
