EMERGENCY SERVICES ANONYMOUS FTP SITE Message : #15057584 From: Michael Larish Address : nomad@ecst.csuchico.edu Group : Usenet.misc.emerg-services Subject : FTP Org. : California State University, Chico This is just a 2 month reminder of the Emergency Services FTP site at Chico. I'd like to get more files to put in it so that all Emergency Services can find something of interest there and we have a nice, centralized repository. These are the categories we have now for FTP files: Disaster (Files on disaster response, handling, etc) EMT (For those in the emergency medical profession) Fire (For those Fire type people) Hazmat (For those crazy Hazardous Materials people) Misc (for files that don't fit anywhere else) Police (All law enforcement) SAR (Search & Rescue) Anyway, here's the standard info file explaining the rest... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- EMERGENCY SERVICES ANONYMOUS FTP SITE Anonymous FTP Site Name : hairball.ecst.csuchico.edu Anonymous FTP Site Numeric Address: 132.241.1.108 Anonymous FTP Site Login Name : anonymous Anonymous FTP Site Password : The beginning directory structure for the emergnecy services area is: /pub/ems File Topics Include: o Search & Rescue o Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) o Fire o Emergency Medical Services o Law Enforcement In the past, I have looked for emergency services FTP sites and other information on Internet. With the exception of a few newsgroups and some Gopher locations, I was unable to find a site centralized site that held information that would be of interest to emergency personnel. I created this directory structure at Chico's site in order to fill that void. Please remember, this is an anonymous FTP site. If your system does not have or support FTP, you will not be able to access this site. This is NOT a TELNET site either. For those who aren't familiar with FTP, it stands for File Transfer Protocol. It provides a very limited shell that allows you to upload and download files. For more information on FTP, please refer to your system documentation or your system administrator. I would love to fill all the directories with programs, documents, training ideas, etc. If you have anything that you feel would be beneficial to these areas, you are welcome to upload them via FTP to /pub/ems/incoming. Please send me E-mail describing what the uploaded file is and where it should go. I will then move it to it's appropriate directory. If you have any questions, comments, requests, etc. please let me know via E-mail. -- Michael Larish | California Department of Forestry Comm Reserve nomad@ecst.csuchico.edu | Butte County Sheriff's Communications Reserve 725 Amateur Callsign: KD6CTZ | Butte County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Officer 317 Padi Rescue Diver | Butte County Drowning Accident Rescue Team (DART)
