The name of our Society is the NORTHERN ALBERTA AQUATIC RESCUE SOCIETY
(N.A.A.R.S.).  Our head office is located at: 5216-86 Street, Edmonton, Ab.

The NORTHERN ALBERTA AQUATIC RESCUE SOCIETY was founded in April of 1994.

We are an individual, non-profit Organization that is available for services
from Red Deer, Ab. and Northern Alberta. Though our prime location being in
and around Edmonton.
We are also members of SEARCH AND RESCUE ALBERTA (SARA).

Our Organization currently consists of 30 volunteers.  This includes members
of the Edmonton Police Dept., Edmonton Fire Dept., and Professional Divers
(who have been trained in First Aid, CPR, Underwater Law Enforcement
Investigations, Ice Rescue, Ice Diving, Underwater Video and Photography for
Evidence, Public Safety Diving, Dive Rescue I and II, Boat Use, Med Dive,
D.A.N. Oxygen Provider, Swiftwater Rescue, Helicopter Ground Operations and
have knowledge of Land and Air Search Techniques).

Our mission is to provide local authorities with Search and Rescue or
Recovery in Aquatic Environments. We are dedicated to helping anyone that
may require our specialized training or skills to preserve life, or reduce
the agony of family and friends lost in the aquatic environment.

With the increased use of recreational areas with water in the vicinity and
water related sports, it is inevitable that we will have an increase in
water related accidents.  One of the goals of our Society is to educate the
Public with information on water safety so as to prevent unfortunate cases
of water accidents.

We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year as resources allow. Our
volunteers are often called from the workplace of family activities, or even
the wee hours of the morning to serve our community, but we do it proudly.
